IMPA announced "Motion Picture Stories"

Des Moines — The Iowa Motion Picture Association (IMPA) continues to advocate

for Iowa film workers while the Iowa Film, Television and Video Production Promotion

faces scrutiny in the current legislative session. As part of its efforts to educate

the public and lawmakers about the benefits of filmmaking in Iowa, the IMPA is

producing “Iowa Film Stories,” an Internet video series.

Each segment features the personal story of an Iowan positively affected by the

films and other projects recently produced in the state. Each individual, directly

employed by a production in many cases, was interviewed about the productions they

participated in, how the community and they themselves were impacted, and their

opinions about how the film incentives should proceed.

Those profiled thus far include actors, college theater majors, fight

choreographers, audio engineers, production assistants, production coordinators and

others. Several former Iowans who returned, and young people considering moving away

from the state, also told their stories.

The videos are hosted on the IMPA YouTube channel at

http://www.youtube.com/IMPAdottv. The initial interviews were recorded at the Wild

Rose Independent Film Festival and Crossroads Entertainment and Art Experience.

The IMPA encourages participation by others positively impacted by the film industry

in Iowa. “We ask people affected by these stories or who had similar experiences, to

post links to the stories on your websites and blogs, in Facebook and other social

media outlets, and add their own experiences,” said Andrew Roger, IMPA marketing

committee member.

Individuals, companies and organizations that have benefited from filmmaking in the

state are encouraged to upload their own stories. For more information on how to be

a part of this project, download the instructions at http://tinyurl.com/ydzg9hq,
