Knoxville Raceway and AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Series Partner for

Knoxville — Knoxville Raceway has teamed up

with AMA Pro Racing Pro to host the Flat Track Grand National Championship

on September 18th at the historic half mile track.

AMA Pro Racing sanctions many racing series, but the oldest and most

traditional is flat track - sometimes referred to as "dirt track racing."

Dating back to post-World War II, flat track is the uniquely American type

of motorcycle racing. In a spectacular fashion, riders finesse their

machines sideways through the turns, just inches apart from each other, at

speeds over 100 mph providing one of the most thrilling spectacles in

motorsports.

"The last Flat Track Grand National was held in 1996 won by 9 time Champion

Scott Parker, we feel 2010 is a good time to bring this event back to

Knoxville. This is another spectacular sport that provides a high

entertainment value to the consumer." Stated Race Director Ralph Capitani.

"The AMA is a well known, top quality organization that we like to partner

with to bring fun and excitement to Knoxville Raceway and our Fans."

While details are still being finalized, the event will likely welcome

spectators and fans on Friday, September 17th for pre-race festivities and

camping. The official racing will take place on Saturday, September 18th

with rider autographs from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

The event will host both the Pro Single and Expert Twins classes.

Tickets for the event will go on sale February 1, 2010 and may be purchased

at www.knoxvilleraceway.com or by calling

(641)842-5431. Additional information will be posted on the Knoxville

Raceway website.
