Knoxville —
Perhaps playing Albia in Albia wasn’t a bad idea after all.
Knoxville and Albia were suppose to play each other at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines last Saturday but the weather forced the game to be postponed.
The makeup date was Monday in Albia and the Knoxville Panthers left the Lady Dees’ gymnasium with a 43-41 non-conference decision.
It was Knoxville’s fourth win of the year as they now stand at 4-15 overall.
Albia fell to 5-15 for the season.
Knoxville held quarter leads throughout the night, 16-10 25-22 and 36-31 en route to the two-point win.
Back in November Albia beat the Panthers 38-32.
Meredith Cunningham led the Panthers Monday night with 14 points.
She had some help in tripping up the Lady Dees.
Hanna Rosenkranz added eight points, Taylor Carter had seven and Marissa Lenger five points.
Rounding out the KHS attack were Katie Cunningham with three and Jamie Hunt, Courtney Ryan and Lydia Anderson all with two points.
M. Cunningham and Lenger each had a big night on the boards with eight and seven rebounds respectively.
Rosenkranz and M. Cunningham also led the Panthers in assists with three each. Rosenkranz, Lenger and Lydia Anderson each had two steals for Knoxville.
