Knoxville —

Norwalk and Knoxville faced off in a Little Hawkeye Conference baseball doubleheader in Knoxville June 11.

The Warriors dominated in game one winning 17-2 in six innings.

The Panthers, after being limited to just four hits in the opener, put the bat on the ball in game two to make matters interesting before falling 15-12.

The two wins put the Warriors mark at 5-3 in the LHC while the Panthers slipped to 2-5 in league play.

Suffering the pitching defeat for the Panthers in game one was Kevin Woodhouse, who worked one inning allowign five earned runs.

Taking the hill in relief of Woodhouse were Jake Kendall, Justin Karns and Kaden Loscher.

Scott Bailey had the pitching win for Norwalk in the opener. Tyler Shilling had three of the Warrior RBI in game one.

In the nightcap, the Panthers broke on top 5-0 after one inning of play.

Norwalk bounced back to score eight runs in the second. Despite battling back the Panthers just couldn’t quite catch up to Norwalk in game two.

The Warriors led 10-7 after four and 13-9 after five. Knoxville closed to within 13-11, but the Warriors added two insurance runs in the seventh to collect the win.

Panther Coach Joel Johnson had to be pleased with the effort put forth by his young squad.
