Pleasantville FFA Alumni running trams at state fair

Pleasantville —

The Pleasantville FFA Alumni has been selected to provide tram service inside the Iowa State Fairgrounds this year, during the Iowa State Fair. If you are 18 and can drive a tractor, they want your help.

Leanne Sutter with the Alumni said volunteers must be at least 18 and have a valid driver's license. She would prefer all volunteers have experience driving a tractor.

Volunteers are needed for every day of the Iowa State Fair, which runs from Aug. 9-19. Those who sign up will drive a brand new, air conditioned John Deere tractor. The tractor will haul two trams of fairgoers and make 11 stops around the fairgrounds.

Each volunteer will receive a free t-shirt, free parking and free admission to the fair. Shifts will run from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and from 3-11 p.m. Four drivers are needed per shift.

By doing this for the fair, the alumni will receive funding to support the Pleasantville FFA. This is the first time in over 20 years that an organization, besides Grandview Park Baptist, has had the opportunity to handle the trams at the fair.
