Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.”
Hannah was a woman with a great desire for a child. She couldn’t have children and even though she loved her husband, she longed for a child of her own. In 1 Samuel 1:1-18 tells us that Hannah went into the tabernacle and poured her heart out to the Lord. She was praying so fervently that the priest, Eli, thought she was drunk. She explained to him that she was pouring her heart out to the Lord and Eli blessed her. She had no where else to turn. The only person who could give her the desire of her heart was God. She couldn’t look to her husband. She couldn’t look to her friends. She couldn’t look to her social status. She had to look to the Giver of life. When she called on Him, He answered her and gave her Samuel who grew to be a great prophet for God. She also had 5 more children. The Lord truly gives exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think.
Esther called out on behalf of her people when they were going to be destroyed by Hamman. David called out when he faced the lion, the bear, and Goliath. He called out again in repentance after killing a man so he could take his wife for his own. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego cried out in the fiery furnace and were not harmed. Daniel cried out in the lion’s den, and Jonah cried out in the belly of the fish. Each of these examples shows us that we must be willing to call and depend on the Lord no matter what circumstance we find ourselves in. We must raise our voice and call out to God to help us, to heal us, to save us, to change us. Jeremiah gives us the promise that if we call, He will answer and will show us great and mighty things we don’t know. In Joel 2:28-32 it tells us that all who call upon the Name of the Lord will be saved. In times of difficulty, unfairness, uncertainty, persecution, desperation, adversity, and hurt people called out and the Lord answered them. If you call out, He will answer you too.
We don’t think like God. Isaiah 55:8 tells us that His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. We are human. We only see today but God sees yesterday, today, and into the future. We must call on Him in every situation displaying our dependency and submission to His ways and His will. It is only in submission to Him that we can truly be free. God is a Gentleman and He won’t butt in where we won’t allow Him access. If we don’t ask, He has no obligation to answer. When we do He will certainly answer. I John 5:14-15 says,” Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” We know we have what we ask, if we ask according to His will. His Word is His will. When we look into God’s Word, there are promises that we can hold on to as we call on the Lord. When we call on the Lord based on the Word of God, He will answer us and show us things we don’t know. What do you want Him to show you; things about your family, your job, your community, your relationships, your finances? He will most definitely show you if you take the time to call and to listen.
In times of uncertainty, we need a solid foundation to stand on. God gives us that with His Word. We can call on Him, and He won’t turn us away. Whatever your need, spiritually, relationally, emotionally, financially, etc; call to Him and allow Him to show you great and mighty things you don’t know.

Knoxville's Children of God
You and I, and the rest of the world, are creations of our Heavenly Father. Because we are human, we don't always act like we belong to God's family. We fall short in God's family, but that is where Christ enters the picture.
