In Ernest Hemingway’s short story, “The Capital of the World,” he shares the account about a father and his teenage son who lived in Spain. Their relationship became strained, eventually shattered, until the son ran away from home. The father began a long journey in search of his lost son; finally as a last resort he put an ad in the Madrid newspaper. His son’s name was Paco, a very common name in Spain. The ad simply read, “Dear Paco, meet me in front of the Madrid newspaper office tomorrow at noon. All is forgiven. I love you.” As Hemingway writes, the next day at noon in front of the newspaper office there were 800 “Pacos” all seeking forgiveness.
Come Home...Be Blessed
God is in the forgiveness business. Today many people have trouble accepting the fact that God offers total forgiveness. Psalms 32:1 says, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” The apostle Paul refers to this verse in Romans 4:6-8. This forgiveness includes the total erasing from the mind of God that sin was ever committed. He does this for His own sake, so He can walk with and bless humanity the way He wants! Therefore, let us accept His forgiveness and move forward in faith. Smith Wigglesworth said, “Never look back if you want the power of God in your life.” God’s redeeming forgiveness releases us from the penalty of sin, propelling us forward to a new life found IN HIM.
Remind Me of this Promise
The Lord has instructed mankind to remind Him of this promise. This promise of forgiveness and faith in this Word opens the door to God’s goodness. For when men remind the Lord of His Word they are also reminding themselves of His faithfulness. Which closes the door to the enemy’s accusations against them. “Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” II Corinthians 5:17
Jesus shared; Faith will not operate in an atmosphere of unforgiveness. Mk. 11:25.26 It is when a person receives forgiveness, gives forgiveness, and forgives themselves that faith in God works properly. God’s kind of forgiveness erases the guilt and shame that accompanies sin. Positioning a person to plead their case based on the blood of Jesus!
Let the reality of what God has done for you in Christ soak into your spirit. Meditate upon these truths and enjoy the freedom that comes with being a new creature in Christ. God bless you richly!
