Knoxville — Negotiations are ongoing between the City of Knoxville and its employee union. Not many details have been revealed as of yet.
Union Steward Randy Puyear told the Journal-Express on Wednesday that talks were underway and that the agreement between the union and the City has not gone to arbitration yet. He could not comment further.
A similar reply was received by City Manager Harold Stewart. Questions were submitted to Stewart via email about how the negotiations were going and if there was a particular issue that was hindering negotiations. Here is Stewart's reply:
"The City is still in the process of negotiating a contract and is therefore unable to answer any questions regarding the matter at this time. I will provide you details once an agreement has been reached."
The Knoxville City Council held a closed session Monday night, at the conclusion of its regular meeting, to discuss collective bargaining issues. Stewart said there was no action taken following the closed session.
