Reeds say thank you
To the editor:
There are not enough words to express our gratitude to the Knoxville City Fire Department, Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Pella Fire Department, Pella Ambulance, Indiana Township Fire Department and the Pleasantville Fire Department for responding to the fire at Reed’s Automotive Center, Inc.
We truly appreciated your efforts to save our business. We would also like to thank the countless friends, family, customers and community for their outpouring of support and offers of assistance. We are so grateful to live in such a wonderful community. We are looking forward to reconstructing and hope to be back, to business as usual, as soon as possible. WE’LL BE BACK!

Use technology to fix Congress
I’ve done it. I was sitting in my recliner when I, a humble, Midwestern news editor, devised an idea that can save the United States of America. That idea is to utilize technology and keep all United States Senators and members of the House of Representatives at home.

McKinley's Memos
Not only have Iowans witnessed hefty increases in state spending, the unemployment rate and property taxes during the last few years, but we have seen an alarming spike in public debt.
