Marjorie Young

Marjorie Haines Young, age 84, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Marjorie Lange was born to parents Charles and Alpha (Boyd) Lange on Aug. 1, 1925, in Fort Madison, Iowa. She grew up in Fort Madison and graduated with the Fort Madison High School class of 1943. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith.

Marjorie was married to Darrell Haines on Aug. 5, 1952, and their union was blessed with three children: Lee Ann, Donald, and Ronald. Marjorie made a loving home for her family and also worked as a telephone service technician for Contel Telephone in Knoxville, until moving to Lake View in 1977.

After Darrell’s death on Feb. 12, 1972, she was fortunate to find love again with Jerome Young and they were united in marriage on June 9, 1978, in Newell, Iowa. Together Jerome and Marjorie enjoyed a lifetime of travel, exploring Europe and enjoying many cruises. Their love of traveling took them on 16 different cruises including destinations such as the Panama Canal, Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: daughter Lee Ann (Phil) Davis of Moravia; sons: Donald Haines of Bussey, Ronald (Deb) Haines of Pella; step-daughter Dr. Danette Jackson of Winterset; and step-sons: Michael (Michele) Young of Savannah, Ga., Curtis (Margo) Young of Stewartville, Minn.; grandchildren: Angie Ford, Mindy Conaway, Jeff, and Joe Loyd, Marshall and Kimberly Haines, Lange Haines, and Megan Maxwell; and great-grandchildren: Gable and Kylie Ford, Austin and Trevor Conaway, Brady and Carter Loyd, Tucker and Tess Loyd, Brody and Addison Haines, eight step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her two sisters-in-law: Helen Wall and Viola (Carroll) Wilson both of Donnellson, Iowa; three brothers-in-law: Robert (Pat) Young of Donnellson, Iowa; Linus (Jeanette) Young of Churchville, Md., and Fred (Judy) Young of Donnellson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her first husband Darrell Haines; husband Jerome in October of 2009; her parents Charles and Alpha; granddaughter Dani Nicole Haines; grandson Donald Haines, II; and daughter-in-law Sandra Haines.
