Funeral services for Kevin Dwight Chambers of Knoxville were held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville, with Danielle Bertrand, Celebrant. Burial followed in Gosport Cemetery. Musical selections of “Temporary Home”, “My Old Friend”, “My Best Friend” and “Amazing Grace” were shared. Casket bearers included Brian (Hamball) Hamilton, Terry Bellon, Bruce Nolin, Brant Malone, Brian Shearer and Jack Van Baali.
Kevin Dwight Chambers was born June 19, 1959, in Des Moines, the son of Wayne Calvin Chambers and Marjorie Louise (Mudgett) Chambers.
He was raised in central Iowa and graduated from Monroe High School with the Class of 1977. Kevin worked for Van Gorp’s in Pella, on the Van Wyk farm and hauled cattle for Marvin Schut. He then worked for Consolidated Freightways, for 12 years, until they closed. For the last few years he has been employed by DeHaai Trucking.
On June 26, 1999, Kevin was united in marriage to Rhonda Shilling. They enjoyed camping, boating, and NASCAR racing. Kevin and Rhonda also enjoyed socializing with their many friends and family members.
Kevin passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospital at the age of 50 years, 7 months and 13 days.
He was preceded in death by two siblings in infancy: Randall Wayne in 1956 and Julie Renee in 1961 and a daughter, Chrystie Norton.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rhonda; daughters, Kellie Arpy of Des Moines, Jami Chambers of Knoxville and Mandy Branson (Anthony) of Knoxville; grandson, Joseph Branson and his parents, Wayne and Marjorie Chambers of Apache Junction, Ariz., and many other family members and friends.
