Thomas Earl Lunsford, age 72 of Knoxville, passed away at the Comfort House in Pella on Thursday, June 28, 2012.
Tom was born Jan. 27, 1940, in Ottumwa, the son of Sampson and Frances (McLeland) Lunsford. Tom attended and graduated from Wauconda High School in Wauconda, Mo.
In December of 1962 Thomas was united in marriage to Pamela Funk. They were blessed with two children, Thomas Jr. and Randy. Tom and Pam later divorced.
Tom worked for a short time as an insurance sales agent and for ten years at Maytag in Newton. Tom owned and operated Lunsford Home Improvement and later he began a second business Lunsford Pool and Supplies. He owned and operated both businesses for over thirty years. Tom especially enjoyed sprint cars and sprint car racing and loved his dog “Fuzzy”.
Tom is survived by his children Thomas Lunsford, Jr., of Knoxville and Randy Lunsford and his wife Lori of Pella. He is also survived by three grandchildren Matthew, Benjamin, and Elizabeth Lunsford.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter Sarah Lunsford.
Tom has been cremated per his wishes.
