Hazel B. Moore, 88, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Calvin Community.
Hazel was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Dallas. She graduated from Attica High School. Hazel was married by her father, the Justice of the Peace of Attica to Robert Moore on July 4, 1942, in the family’s front yard. She retired from the State of Iowa on her birthday in 1985 after 41 years of service as the head of the Licensing Department. Hazel will be remembered as the loving, caring and warm matriarch of her family. She was a lady who knew how to get things done and could use her wonderful sense of humor to accomplish anything.
Hazel is survived by her siblings, Carolyn Hoffman, Larry Ethell, Leona Steele, Ray Ethell and Harold Ethell; sister-in-law, Harriet Ethell; brother-in-law, Dean C. Smith; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moore; parents, George and Matilda Ethell; siblings, George W. Ethell Jr., Mae Randall, Helen Conn, Bonnie Smith and Harry Ethell; and her step-daughter, Linda Lee.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Calvin Community in the Health Center.
