Janet Marie Pearson, age 67, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center of Des Moines.

Janet was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas, the daughter of Charles Glen and Emma Jean (Durham) Rigel. Janet was raised in Melcher and graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School, Class of 1962.

Janet worked at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville as a Head Purchasing Agent. She retired in the mid 1990s. She enjoyed Halloween, making crafts, collecting, baking cakes, cupcakes, and candies for her family and friends. She was also a member of the Methodist Church and formerly helped teach Sunday School.

On Oct. 22, 1976, in Knoxville, Janet Married Raymond Hervey Pearson. They were blessed with 32 years of marriage until Hervey’s death on April 6, 2009.

Janet is survived by her children: Pam Wares and husband Brian of Earlham, and Brian Pearson and wife Heather of Groton, Connecticut; four grandchildren Wade and Blake Wares, and Imogen and Brianna Pearson. Janet is also survived by her father Glen Rigel and his wife Elinor of Melcher-Dallas.

She is preceded in death by her mother Emma Jean; and her husband Hervey.

Janet has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville, with Pastor Jeff Flagg. Janet’s family will greet friends from noon until service time on Friday. Burial will follow services at Graceland Cemetery of Knoxville.

A memorial has been established to the Marion County Humane Society. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com. Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is handling arrangements.
