Jane Ellen Price was born on Feb. 27, 1952, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Phillip Ashley and Ann Dolan Price. She grew up in Omaha, graduating from Mercy Catholic High School. Jane attended Peru State College in Peru, Neb. She moved to the Knoxville area in 1979 where she was a stay at home mom and helped out on the farm. Jane finished her nursing degree and began working for the Knoxville Veterans Administration Hospital. She worked there for 15 years, retiring in 2003.

Jane enjoyed reading thriller and suspense novels, especially Stephen King. In her younger days she belonged to a poker club and played weekly games with her friends. She liked cooking and watching games shows. She also enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing and taking walks. Most of all, Jane loved to socialize and be in the company of good friends.

Jane passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at her home at the age of 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joseph Price.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ann (Travis) Shenefield, Theresa (Phillip) Dawson and Jon Miller; brothers, William (Corene) Price, Matthew (Cathy) Price, Patrick Price and James Price; grandchildren, Elizabeth Stauffer, Jacob Ballinger, Phillip “Trip” Dawson III, and Charla Dawson; great-grandchild, Zahara Bushey; and many friends.

 A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 4 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Jane has been cremated according to her wishes. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the family for her son’s care.
