Donald Rankin

Sun City, Ariz. —  

Donald Darwin Rankin was born on July 1, 1938, in Lacona, the son of Chet and Ruth Rankin.

Don grew up in Lacona and met Olive Beeler and married on June 14, 1958.  Don was self-employed and ventured in many businesses throughout his life, consisting of roofing, water vehicles, siding, automobiles and many more.  Don was a loving and caring person that was dedicated to his work and family.

Don passed away on Feb. 3, 2013, at his home in Sun City, Ariz., from prostate cancer. He was surrounded by friends and family.

Don is survived by wife Olive, their eight children, Janice Fouch (husband Mike, children Heather, Samantha, Laura, Silvia and great-grandson Jackson), Jeannie Bachman (husband Denny, children Cody (wife Allison and great-grand daughter to be Kindley) and Luke), Daniel (Tiny) Rankin, (children Jeremy, Staci, Daniel and great-grandson Braxton) Judy Philben (husband Kerry and child Kristen), Jackie Beaver (husband Robert children Jocelyn and Jordan), Jennifer Norman (husband Joe, children Justin, Wesley, Tyler and Wade), Darwin (child Dalton), David (wife Amy, children Shane and Kirstie). His siblings, Clair Rankin (wife Lois), Doyle Rankin (wife Suzie), Mary Ellen Dittmer (husband Germain), Jim Rankin (wife Susie), Elsie Krpan (husband Larry), Neil Rankin (wife Andi), Les Rankin (wife Diane), Betty Hugen (husband Bob), and other family and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Chet and Ruth Rankin.

Don’s family will be greeting friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at St.  Anthony’s Catholic Church of 1202 Woodland Drive, Knoxville.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the family.

The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Don’s family with services.  Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
