Charles Francis “Doc” Fisher, Jr. was born March 5, 1927, in Des Moines, the son of Charles Francis Fisher, Sr. and Priscilla (Geddling) Fisher.

Doc enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 where he served until the end of WWII. Following the service, Doc worked for Solar Aircraft until 1958. He then delivered propane for several years and was known for his prompt service.

Doc then took a job with Dewey Ford, in Des Moines, where he worked as an auto mechanic for 25 years. On Sept. 4, 1964, he was united in marriage to Alice Carr at the Pleasantville Christian Church. During the 1980’s Doc ran a tree farm on his property north of Pleasantville.

Doc enjoyed the races and was the owner of a super modified car back in the early 1950’s. He was also a long time member of the Pleasantville Fire Department and served as Chief for five years. Doc loved being outside and enjoying nature.

He passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 85 years.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marilyn; second wife, Alice; son, Wayne and a brother, Woodrow Fisher.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Charles Fisher, III, (Julie) of Knoxville, Michelle Proctor of Perry, Yvonne Jones (Michael) of Goodyear, Ariz.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a niece, Mary Lou Farmer (James) of LeClaire.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial of the ashes in the Pleasantville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Family. Online condolences may be left at BertrandFuneralHomes.com
