Services for Mary Bauer, 87, were Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family received friends Sunday at the church with a Rosary at 3:30. Mary Elizabeth (Konrad) Bauer was born Nov. 11, 1924, to Simeon and Barbara (Putz) Konrad in rural Lacona. She graduated from Lacona High School in 1943. On Oct. 22, 1946, she married Cornelius “Cob” Bauer. They were blessed with six children: Barb, Kathy, Den, Dave, Teresa, and Bill.

Mary worked at the Lacona Bank and was an associate librarian for Dallas Elementary for many years.

Family was very important to Mary; she enjoyed the family reunions at the lake and especially enjoyed time with all her grandchildren. She loved to host the family at holidays and to prepare a meal for all her family. Her homemade bread, noodles and potato salad were especially memorable. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and square dancing. Mary belonged to the garden club for many years.

Mary passed away Sept. 13, 2012, at the age of 87 years, at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton after suffering a stroke a week earlier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cob in 1975; son-in-law Lee Quick; and siblings: Herbert Konrad and Dorothy Konrad. She is survived by her children: Barb Quick, Kathy (Ron) Miller, Den (Mary) Bauer, Dave (Kathy) Bauer, Teresa (Rod) Harding; and Bill (Cindy) Bauer; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ramona Bauer along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
