Services for Charles Rodgers, 91, were Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. Interment was at the Belmont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Milo United Methodist Church, 300 Spruce St. Milo, Iowa 50166 or Milo Lions Club 23385 McKinley St. Milo, Iowa 50166. Charles O. Rodgers was born July 11, 1921, on a farm south of Pleasantville to William and Lochiel (Cleek) Rodgers. He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1939. On March 9, 1946, he married Anita Chandler and they were blessed with two sons: Rick and Robert. They moved to their current home in 1949.

Charles loved the farm, especially his Angus cattle. He was a member of the Warren County Angus Association, and enjoyed going to Angus sales all over the country. He enjoyed going to the yearly cattle sales to watch his calves sell each winter.

Charles was also very involved with his Milo Community. Over the years he was on the Fourth of July Committee, belonged to the Milo Methodist Church, was a founding charter member of the Milo Lions Club, South Central Co-op Board, ASCS Board, and was a Boy Scout Volunteer and Troop Leader for many years. He always enjoyed coffee with friends at the Co-op. His friends could tell you he had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes even though the punch line was sometimes a little off. Charles was an optimist and never let the daily challenges of farming bother him. Most of all he loved his close-knit family. He and Anita enjoyed spending time with the boys and their families.

Charles passed away Sept. 3, 2012, at the Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister, Elizabeth Conn. He is survived by his wife Anita; sons: Rick (Charlotte) Rodgers of Indianola and Robert (Mary) Rodgers of Milo; and three grandchildren: Jason (Michelle) Rodgers, Jacki Rodgers, and Ben Rodgers. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
