Bruce Neimeth

Knoxville —

Bruce Neimeth, 73, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at his home as a result of long term throat cancer.

Bruce was born on Oct. 28, 1939, in New York. He spent most of his adult life in the Dallas, Texas, area, moving to Knoxville in 2005 with his wife and partner, Karen, as part of a business program including the Knoxville Nationals live TV programs developing the Knoxville Late Model Nationals, electronic ticketing and the Salute to Champions Program for the Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum.

He enjoyed two careers – motorsports and international business development.  From 1956 through 2008, he was a race car owner, driver, builder, sponsor, promoter and TV producer from dirt tracks to the Indy 500, to road racing tracks across the USA.  At the same time, international business opportunities took him to Asia, Europe, West Africa and Central America for customers and clients including the U.S. Defense Department and Wal-Mart.  He served as president of an established marine recreational and military contractor, eventually closing out his career as a partner and president of two Dallas-based service companies.

In 2001 he returned his focus to the business of motorsports, eventually relocating to Knoxville.  He retired in 2009 and devoted his time working with the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum as a volunteer and member of the Advisory Board. He most recently created and produced the “Salute to Champions” program, featuring Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon.

Bruce is survived by wife and business partner of 22 years, Karen Louise Neimeth; children, Kim Caster of Knoxville, Jennifer Galoway of Colorado Springs, Colo., Geoff Neimeth of Round Rock, Texas, Greg Neimeth of Waukee and Kent Brumit of Garland, Texas; brother Robert Neimeth of Falls Village, Conn.; numerous grandchildren; and his best friends, Bill Anderson, Billy and Diane Anderson, Dottie, Mille, Dimples, Kitty, Missy, Skittles and Babe.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mildred and Albert Neimeth; and his former wife, Carole Ashley Neimeth.

At Bruce’s request, he has been cremated and no services are planned. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion County Humane Society or to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. Williams Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
