Ruth Colleen Pearson, age 86 of Knoxville and formerly of Attica, passed away on Sunday evening, Feb. 10, 2013, at the Knoxville Hospital. Colleen’s wishes were cremation with a private family service at a later date.
Colleen was born on July 31, 1926, to Roy Everett and Cora L. (Rankin) Bridges, at home in Marion County. She was a graduate of Attica High School and received her Elementary Education Degree with a minor in Library Science from Central College. She was also a graduate of Drake University.
Colleen and Delno Herman Pearson were united in marriage. They shared many years together before Delno’s passing in 2008 and were blessed with two sons: Allan and Kevin.
Colleen was an elementary school teacher for 38 years; teaching at the Attica Elementary School and later with Twin Cedars Elementary. She was a lifelong and active member of the Attica United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano or organ for Sunday church services. Collen was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her family and many friends including her two sons: Allan Pearson and wife, Diana, of Oskaloosa and Kevin Pearson of Knoxville; two grandchildren: Blake and Carly; and a blonde lab named “Charlie”.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Delno.
A memorial has been established in Colleen’s name to the Attica United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com. Arrangements are being handled by the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville.
