Funeral services for Derrick Rankin, age 29 of Des Moines, will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Bybee & Davis

Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with Pastor Brent Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery.

Derrick Dwayne Rankin was born on Feb. 11, 1983, in Knoxville, the son of David Michael Delp and Deborah Rankin.

He grew up in Knoxville and Gainsborough, Tenn. Following high school, Derrick went on to further his education at DMACC for Accounting.

Derrick enjoyed music, concerts, sports and hanging out with friends, but most of all he cherished time spent with his children and family. He was an avid Hawkeye and Cowboys fan.

Derrick passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, Todd Carruthers and great-grandparents.

Survivors include his children, Jude and Alivia; mother, Deb Carruthers of Des Moines; siblings, Cody, Jaycob and Robbie all of Des Moines; grandparents, Chick and Linda Rankin of Knoxville, along with aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
