Gregory Taylor, 63 of Knoxville, formerly of Chariton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Greg was born on July 20, 1949, in Ottumwa to Howard and Yvonne (Jones) Taylor. He received his education from Chariton High School graduating in 1969. Greg was a member of the Knoxville VFW, D.A.V. and American Legion Post #168. He was a volunteer driver for the D.A.V., helping get veterans to Des Moines for medical care. Greg enjoyed fishing, kayaking, hunting and his dogs. He enjoyed visiting with people.

Greg is survived by his wife, Mary Taylor of Knoxville, seven siblings; Dorothy Huffman of Ottumwa, Tom Stover of Viola, Ark., Gary Harwood of Alvin, Texas, Larry Jack of Grinnell, Violet Collier of Viola, Ark., Pearl Venatar and Alice Neil, both of Ottumwa. His parents and his first wife, Beverly Taylor, preceded him in death.

A Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Chariton Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be given to the family, which will be designated at a later date.
