Matthew Rowland
Matthew Wayne Rowland was born Dec. 13, 1963, in Sioux City, the son of Finis and Sonya (Brooks) Rowland.
Matt attended trade schools and became an iron worker. He traveled the area extensively for his work.
Matt passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 46 years, 1 month and 10 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Matt is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Scott City, Kan.; daughter, Candice Rowland of West Des Moines; granddaughter, Felicity Tolle; brother, Tim of Pella; sisters: Lisa (Paul) VandeHaar of Pella, Laura (Tom) Pierce of Des Moines, Mary (Jeff) Greenlee of Sac City, Ruth (Frank) Anderson of Arkansas City, Kan., and Jeannie Currier of Oskaloosa and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Knoxville on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Tom Wheeler officiating. Musical selection will be a congregational hymn of “Amazing Grace.” Pastor Nancy Wheeler will sing “One Day at a Time” and Barbara Westburg will serve as organist.
Matt has been cremated and his cremains will be scattered at a later date.
