Supervisors to hold two special meetings

Knoxville — The Marion County Board of Supervisors will take part in two special meetings next week.

The first will be Tuesday, March 19, at 8:15 a.m., at the Marion County Courthouse. This is a joint meeting with the Public Health Board.

The supervisors, as well as the Health Board, have questions regarding decisions the other body has made. During a recent Health Board meeting, Supervisor Craig Agan - a member of both boards - sought a joint meeting to work out issues.

Members of the Mairon County Board of Supervisors will meet in a joint session with supervisors from Jasper, Mahaska and Powesheik counties at the Mahaska County Courthouse on Thursday, March 21, at 1 p.m. This meeting will focus on the counties' new, joint mental health coalition.

The State of Iowa mandated that counties form, or join, with other counties to provide mental health services in the future. Marion and its fellow counties agreed to form this coalition last year, and selected one another as partners.

Both meetings are open to the public. We intend to attend both meetings and provide reports.
