Adel —
Following closing arguments by both the State of Iowa and the defense for Patrick Edouard, the jury deliberated for approximately 2.5 hours before being sent home for the night around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The jury's deliberation will continue at the Dallas County Courthouse, in Adel, on Friday, at 9 a.m.
Edouard is charged with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and four counts of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist. He allegedly forced sexual contact on at least three women while serving as a minister from 2003-10.
The trial was moved to Dallas County, due to pretrial publicity. The Iowa Attorney General's Office is prosecuting the case because Marion County Attorney Ed Bull has a conflict of interest.
