Ethell wins chili cookoff

Knoxville — City of Knoxville Accounting Clerk Jennifer Ethell took home the coveted Golden Ladle in the fifth annual City of Knoxville Chili Cookoff. The cookoff has become a tradition at city hall, one in which City employees are invited to put their chili-making skills to the test. The chili is sampled and voted on by their coworkers and members of the public.

This was Ethell's first attempt to make chili. It was a cheesy blend, based on a recipe she found online. She modified it to suit her tastes and it paid off. Second place went to Kevin Rodgers and there was a tie for third place between cookoff founder Dan Losada and Dennis Webb.

This year's event had 10 entries, the most the contest has seen. There were also more votes cast this year than previous years.
