Democrat picnic Saturday

Knoxville —  

 
The Marion County Democrats are hosting a “picnic with the candidates” on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., at the Auld Park Shelter by the “turtle.” Democrats will furnish the burgers, condiments, and beverages. Attendees are asked to bring picnic baskets, place settings and one of the following; vegetable, salad, or dessert  to share. 
 
This event is open to the public, highlighting local candidates:
Megan Suhr, candidate for IA House Dist. 28
Dick Schrad, candidate for IA Senate Dist. 14
Timothy Tripp, candidate for IA Senate Dist. 40
Kader Toovi, a member of Obama For America's field staff, will be present.

    Des Moines media this week have been reporting on the dismissal of former Senate Republican Communications Director Kristen Anderson. Anderson is alleging sexual harassment led to this, and Republicans contend that she was dismissed due to her performance. Sen. Amy Sinclair is a female Republican Senator, and says she has never felt uncomfortable around her male counterparts.

  • Rowland and Knox are perfect again

    On Saturday, May 18, the Knoxville Police K-9 Unit participated in the annual Midwest K-9 Detector Dog Trials in Adel. Officers  Rowland and Knox successfully certified with a perfect 4 out of 4 score. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Knoxville K-9 Unit has achieved a perfect score.

    Flags will be raised at Graceland Cemetery at 8 a.m. Friday, May 24. There will be a brief memorial tribute at the Veterans' Plot after the flag raising.
