Knoxville — Congressman Dave Loebsack made another trip to Knoxville today, this time to tour Knoxville's "business incubator."
Loebsack paid visits to Founders, Main Street Market and the Center on the Square. Loebsack said it was very exciting to learn about these opportunities available for Knoxville. He liked the way the business owners were thinking "outside of the box" to promote economic development.
Currently in Congress, Loebsack has been trying to encourage greater access to broadband communications in rural areas. According to Loebsack, most of his fellow Representatives believe consolidation of services and opportunities in larger, metropolitan areas, are better than providing opportunities for growth in less populated areas.
"I don't agree with that at all," Loebsack said.
Mikol Sesker, operator of the Center on the Square, said she was excited that Loebsack took an interest in the work the "incubator" is trying to do. She is glad he took the time to come to Knoxville and speak with her.
Loebsack came to Knoxville from Newton, where he worked with sixth grade students on a project. From Knoxville, he headed to Burlington for more events tonight and tomorrow.
