Mullen speaks at Twin Cedars Elementary

Bussey — Author Dr. Paul Mullen paid a visit to Twin Cedars Elementary this morning.

Mullen is a sports author who was in town to motivate the children of Twin Cedars to try their best. He has spoken to approximately 100,000 students across Iowa, delivering a similar message.

Mullen is the author of "The Day I Hit a Home Run at Principal Park." He used a shadow baseball game with some of the students the importance of getting over mistakes.

The author's daughter, Erin, was on the National Team for Team USA the year Tommy Lasorda was managing and Derek Jeter was playing. America brought home a gold medal that year. Today, Erin works for the United States Olympic Committee, working with the Para-Olympics.

"It's been nice," Mullen said of touring Iowa's schools to deliver a motivational message.
