In a somewhat brief meeting, the Marion County Board of Supervisors approved a pair of road closures on Monday morning.
The first closure discussed and approved was on the south two-thirds of 90th Ave., between Utah and Underwood Streets, located southeast of Melcher-Dallas. Fencing on and around the closure will be at the expense and decision of landowners, not the county.
The second road closure approved by the board is located in Otley and included the alley between the Post Office and Summit St. The alley is located in what is known as the Baldwin Addition.
Although no formal action was taken, the board also discussed the future of the property at 104 S. 6th in Knoxville (Annex Building). As reported, the building had been put up for bids, but none were received.
"$150,000 bid is a fair price," Supervisor Craig Agan said. "I hate to sell that building for less and then have the County need a building to use. It is a solid building and I would just hate to give it away. We need some long term planning."
Supervisor Jim Kingery also commented that the building is valuable and that fact can not be taken lightly.
In other action
The board approved a motion for Agan to proceed with following-up with the Asst. County Attorney in regards to drawing up paperwork to sell and on the procedure to list the Bussey Memorial Hall property.
A key to the building was given to the City of Bussey recently in order for those who had property inside the building to remove it. A public notice will be published in the near future to accept bids on the property, although the board will further discuss it before a formal notice is published at future meetings.
