Knoxville — Two applicants to be Knoxville's next Fire Chief are scheduled to interview on Friday.
Ryan Coburn of Norwalk and Scott Schabacker of Jesup are the candidates to be interviewed. They applied for the job when it was first advertised. City Manager Harold Stewart said he wanted to carefully consider all qualified candidates for the job who had previously applied. The application process has remained open.
Stewart said he might know as soon as next week if he has decided to make an offer to either candidate. He will conduct the interviews.
In regard to the soon-to-be-vacant Public Works Director position, Stewart said staff is still evaluating the City's needs regarding this job. Current Public Works Director Jeff May has accepted a position with the City of Des Moines. Stewart does not believe a replacement will be hired before May's last day with Knoxville.
