Loebsack, Thomas coming to Chamber Banquet

Knoxville — Aaron Thomas, son of slain high school football coaching legend Ed Thomas, will deliver the keynote address at tomorrow night's Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Impact Awards. Congressman Dave Loebsack will also be in attendance.

Thomas has followed in his father's footsteps as a coach and athletics director at Aplington-Parkersburg High School. He is a nationally-recognized speaker and a past ESPY winner. His father, Ed, helped lead Parkersburg back following a devastating tornado in 2008. Ed was killed by a former student, Mark Becker, on June 24, 2009.

In addition to Thomas, in attendance will be Loebsack. Loebsack, a Democrat from Mount Vernon, currently represents Iowa's Second Congressional District. Due to Iowa's congressional redistricting following the 2010 Census, Marion County will be part of the new district Loebsack is seeking reelection for.

The Chamber Banquet will be held at the Lake Red Rock Cultural Center on Jan. 28. The event begins with a social hour at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the program and awards.
