Knoxville — More volunteers were hard at work Thursday morning to replace the foot bridge at the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden.
The top and bench were replaced this morning. Kevin DeLong and Dennis Webb from the City of Knoxville assisted with the replacement of the top.
Volunteers hammered and screwed boards into place for the ramps leading up to the bridge and to hold the other pieces in place.
The project should be completed tomorrow, in time for a visit from a Nebraska garden society.
On Saturday, May 18, the Knoxville Police K-9 Unit participated in the annual Midwest K-9 Detector Dog Trials in Adel. Officers Rowland and Knox successfully certified with a perfect 4 out of 4 score. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Knoxville K-9 Unit has achieved a perfect score.
Memorial Day Flag Raising
Flags will be raised at Graceland Cemetery at 8 a.m. Friday, May 24. There will be a brief memorial tribute at the Veterans' Plot after the flag raising.
KPD, MCSO participate in seat belt enforcement
As motorists take to the roads this Memorial Day, Iowa law enforcement officials, including the Knoxville Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's Department, are urging everyone to buckle up.
Alleged counterfeiter arrested
The Knoxville Police Department reports having a suspect in custody, who may be responsible for the counterfeit $100 circulating in town.
Woman runs over man
A Pleasantville woman is accused of running over a man with her pickup truck on Saturday.
The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and Knoxville Police Department report that counterfeit $100 bills are being circulated around Knoxville.
Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, the Reminder advertising deadline is Wednesday, 11:00 am this week, and the Chronicle Deadline is noon on Thursday.
No change in building recommendation
As of Friday afternoon, Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart said his recommendation to the City Council to accept ownership of 110 East Robinson has not changed.
A motorcyclist was transported via air to Methodist hospital in Des Moines following an accident on Highway 14 in Knoxville this afternoon.
Memorial Hall Breakfast funds to go for a cause
The Pleasantville Legion is hosting a breakfast tomorrow morning, Saturday, May 18, with a special plan for the proceeds. Legion members have set a goal to create and mount plaques honoring those from the Pleasantville School District who gave their lives in service to their country.
