Knoxville — In an effort to avoid complaints for issuing citations for golf cart violations, the City of Knoxville has designated a cart path during the Nationals.
Mayor Don Zoutte said the path includes Larson, Rock Island, Jackson, Long Lane and Grant Streets. Golf carts will be allowed on these roads, but not Lincoln Street (Highway 14). Signs should be posted along these roads to show visitors that they are on the designated golf cart path.
"There have been so many complaints about people getting tickets," Zoutte said. He added that the City was working on a permanent path, but it was not completed before the Nationals began. The goal is to have one ready for the 2013 Nationals.
"We're trying to work with everybody," Zoutte said.
