Octagon Club to be busy on Beggars' Night

Knoxville —

To the Editor:
The Knoxville Octagon Club goes by the motto “kids helping kids”.  We are a high school age organization that does a variety of community service activities throughout the year such as: meals on wheels, cleaning the high school parking lot, participating in Operation Christmas Child, cooking meals at the Ronald McDonald House, and helping the adult Optimist Club with the Avenue of Flags.
Our current project is preparing for tick-or-treating for canned goods.  We did this project last year in cooperation with Katie Ayers and we liked it so much we're doing it again this year!  We walk around town and ask for canned goods to donate to Helping Hands.  It's a great opportunity for us to dress up for Halloween, have fun, and involve everyone in Knoxville in the spirit of community service.
Octagon Club will be doing this on beggar's night Monday, Oct. 31.  Everyone can do their part even if it's the donation of just one can, every bit helps.  Have a fun and safe Halloween!
Sincerely,
Josh Burk, Octagon President
