At least five people of Marion County have been targeted by a scam artist.
Just before Christmas I received a telephone call telling me my grandson was in jail. He said although he was innocent, he was riding home from a party when they were stopped by a policeman, and the driver was DWI. Drugs were found in the car, so both were arrested.
I was asked for $2,500 to pay bail and had an hour to get the money. I went to the bank and got a $2,500 loan. When I tried to call the number given: 1-483-993-2879, the call was answered by an operator first in French, then English, line was busy.
Then I called by grandson's father who told me it was a scam. Do not send money, and report the call to the police! The part that gave away the scam was: Do not tell anyone! They make it sound so frightening and real!
