• PTO International Night tonight at Northstar

  The Knoxville Elementary PTO is planning an International Night on Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 6-8 p.m., at Northstar Elementary.

• Marion County Coaches vs. Cancer events raise over $10K

  Totals are in for last week's Coaches vs. Cancer events at Twin Cedars and Pleasantville. Between the two events, Marion County has donated another $10,000 to the American Cancer Society.

• Fair Board approves money move, improvements

  The Marion County Fair Board met in regular session Monday night. Plans discussed include a money transfer and improvements to facilities at the Knoxville Raceway and Fairgrounds.

• Governor announces celebration year for Chinese partnership

   

  The year 2013 marks the 30th  Anniversary of the Hebei Province, PRC and State of Iowa Sister State relationship. During those 30 years, Iowa and Hebei have participated in many projects.  Throughout 2013 there will be events statewide that will be held to commemorate this important relationship.

  The Harvey United Methodist Church will serve its Valentine's Day dinner on Thursday, Feb. 14, at noon at the Harvey Community Center.

• Iowa State Fair seeks farm family nominations

   

  The Iowa State Fair, Tractor Supply Co. and WHO News Radio 1040 are searching for six farm families to recognize with the Way We Live Award at the 2013 Fair, August 8-18. These families must exemplify farm values derived from hard work and a love for the occupation of farming.

• Greiner is Shining Star of the Year

  Norb Greiner, Respiratory Care, was recently selected by co-workers as the 2012 Shining Star of the Year at Pella Regional Health Center.

• Emergency funds available

  Marion County has been awarded $4,940 in federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
