Invent, Iowa winners announced

Knoxville — The winners of the fourth and fifth grade Invent, Iowa competitions at Northstar Elementary have been announced. 

The winners are: 

 

Fifth Grade Winners 

 

3rd Place The Tireific Protection Device: Bridgette McKinney and Mirrah Wilson

 

2nd Place Holiday Chair Cover: Bailey Johnson

 

1st Place The Safety Helmet: Trent Walraven

 

 

Fourth Grade Winners

 

3rd Place Mature Dog Feeder: Brandon Billiter

 

2nd Place Sneaker Slipper: Isabella Van Donselaar and Katelynn Collins

 

1st Place Clean Screen: Reilly Finarty and Cheyenne Tille

• Memorial Hall Breakfast funds to go for a cause

  The Pleasantville Legion is hosting a breakfast tomorrow morning, Saturday, May 18, with a special plan for the proceeds. Legion members have set a goal to create and mount plaques honoring those from the Pleasantville School District who gave their lives in service to their country.

• Flags ordered at half-staff on Friday

  Gov. Terry E. Branstad has ordered all flags on the Capitol Complex be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, in observance of the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony which is to be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Oran State Office Building of the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
