Twin Cedars, Pleasantville Coaches vs. Cancer events tonight

Marion County —

Two more Coaches vs. Cancer events are scheduled in Marion County on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The Pleasantville High School Student Council and Coaching staff will sponsor an event against Southeast Warren. Before the game, there will be a free will donation pulled pork dinner, and a silent auction with many different goodie baskets donated from a variety of businesses.

The student council will also be selling pink coaches vs. cancer tee shirts.  During the game, fans will have the ability to pledge $1 per free throw made in the game, and $3 per 3-pointer made in the game and they will also be able to purchase ribbons showing support for cancer research.

The first game starts at 6:15, with the dinner and silent auction taking place before hand.

Twin Cedars will host an event in which it will play intra-county rival Melcher-Dallas. The event begins with a meal at 5 p.m. A silent auction and Memory Wall will be part of the evening's festivities. Prior to the event, rubber bracelets and t-shirts will be sold.

This year, Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars players and coaches will be able to designate a person to whom they are dedicating the game. Names of everyone the players and coaches are dedicating the game to will be listed in the evening's program.

Another addition to the event this year is a 46-second drill. Members of the Twin Cedars girls' basketball team will try to sink as many baskets as they can in 46 to raise money. The number 46 was chosen because, according to Nolte, 46 Iowans are diagnosed with cancer every day.
