Hunter injured in Monroe County

BLAKESBURG — A man was injured after being shot while hunting deer Sunday in Monroe County near Blakesburg.

Around noon, Clint Morgan, 48, of Saucier, Miss., was hit in the elbow by a shotgun slug, according to release from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The statement says someone in Morgan’s seven-member hunting party fired at a deer. Morgan was taken to Monroe County Hospital in Albia, then transported by ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

No word was issued on his condition Sunday evening by press time.

The incident occurred southwest of Blakesburg. Authorities say diminished view due to fog conditions experienced around the state on Sunday was not considered to be a factor in this incident.

The incident remains under investigation by the DNR.
