Doland, Rielly to face off in special election

OSKALOOSA — Republican Mark Doland and Democrat Tom Rielly will face off in a special election to fill a seat on the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor Ken Rozenboom was elected to the Iowa Senate in the November general election. His last day as a county supervisor is Jan. 11.

The Mahaska County Democratic Central Committee chose Rielly, who has served as mayor of Oskaloosa and in the Iowa Senate. The Mahaska County Republican Central Committee chose Doland, who has served on the Fremont School Board and who is a member of the Iowa Republican State Central Committee. He also has worked on several political campaigns for candidates such as Danny Carroll, Bob Vander Plaats, Michele Bachman and Mike Huckabee.

The special election is set for Jan. 29. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
