The court revoked three probation sentences against an Appanoose County man who pleaded guilty and was sentenced for a sex offender registry violation.
Judge Kirk A. Daily on Feb. 15 sentenced Jeremy Lee Davis, of Moravia, to a suspended fine, five years in state prison and credit for any time served on the charge of sex offender, additional registration violation, second or subsequent offense.
Appanoose County Attorney Richard Scott filed amended trial information on Oct. 30, 2012 to include Count II, failure to comply with sex offender registry requirements, second or subsequent offense, class D felony, to which Davis, 31, the same day entered a negotiated, voluntary guilty plea to. The offense date was Dec. 1, 2011.
The judge ordered Davis to register as a sex offender for life commencing from the date his registration would have expired.
Appanoose County Sheriff's department deputy Tony Caraccio filed the criminal complaint against Davis on July 24, 2012. Davis was arrested Aug. 21, 2012.
The complaint states Davis failed to appear at the Law Center within five business days to notify the sheriff of a change of residence. Caraccio states he did a sex offender registry requirement check on Davis July 20, 2012 at 17578 Highway J18, Moravia, and was told by Davis' grandmother she couldn't remember the last time he stayed at his registered address.
The Appanoose County Sheriff's department has arrested Davis for failure to register as a sex offender on Dec. 15, 2011 and April 18, 2012.
The judge ordered the five-year prison term to run concurrently with three revoked probation sentences.
One revoked probation sentence was for a felony case adjudicated Aug. 3, 2012 on the charge of sex offender, registration violation, crime against minor. The judge in that case sentenced Davis to two years prison suspended to two years probation.
One revoked jail sentence was for a serious misdemeanor case adjudicated Aug. 3, 2012 on the charge of assault causing bodily injury. The judge in that case sentenced Davis to one year in jail, suspended, to two years probation.
One revoked jail sentence was for a drunken driving case adjudicated on Aug. 3, 2012. The judge in that case sentenced Davis to one year in jail, suspended 363 days and two years probation.
The original criminal charge filed by acting Appanoose County Attorney Thomas L. Anders and a simple misdemeanor case were dismissed on March 1.
Davis was transported to Oakdale Feb. 18.
