Knoxville — Though there have been few, if any, snowflakes fallen in Knoxville today, anticipation of massive storms, currently hitting states south of Iowa and headed this way, has prompted the Knoxville Police Department to enact the City's snow ordinance.
The KPD posted this on its Facebook page, moments ago:
"In anticipation of the approaching storm, the City of Knoxville snow ordinance will go in effect at 6 p.m. Thursday February 21, 2013. While in effect parking is prohibited on ALL streets. Violators may be ticketed or towed. The parking ban stays in effect until the storm ends AND streets are plowed curb to curb."
The snow is expected to begin to fall within two hours. Accumulation, according to information provided by Marion County Emergency Management, is expected to be between 6-9 inches. The snow is expected to fall at the rate of an inch to an inch-and-a-half per hour. As previously reported, City of Knoxville and Marion County road crews are prepared to handle what may come.
