Jury convicts Kingma

Knoxville —

John Kingma of Pella was convicted by a Marion County Jury this afternoon of theft in the first degree.

The verdict came in around 2 p.m. today, after the jury had deliberated for two-and-a-half hours. Kinga stole over $10,000 from a local business in Pella, over a number of years.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Attorney Tiffany Kragnes. Sentencing is scheduled for March 22.

“I wish to thank Ms. Kragnes and Officer Matt Huston of the Pella Police Department for their service in this case," Marion County Attorney Ed Bull said. "I also wish to thank the jury for their service over the past two days, which included a duration of time in which testimony was taken in the dark, due to the power outage in Knoxville.  Without jurors who are willing to serve, even during difficult conditions, our justice system would not work."
