KHC Creates $15,605,430 Impact on Local Economy

Knoxville —  

 

Knoxville Hospital & Clinics generates 213 jobs that add $15,605,430 to Knoxville’s economy, according to the latest study by the Iowa Hospital Association.  In addition, KHC employees contribute $3,566,523 in retail sales and contribute $213,991 in state sales tax revenue.

 

 

“The figures released by the Iowa Hospital Association indicate the level of economic impact that our health care facility has on the Knoxville community. We continue to invest in our health care providers and the equipment needed to treat the growing population of patients we are seeing in our facility,” said Kevin Kincaid, Chief Executive Officer at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics. “Having accessible health care in Knoxville is crucial to the economic growth of our community. Every employee at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics takes their role and responsibility of delivering quality health care very seriously and this impacts our community’s quality of life in a positive way.”

 

 

The IHA study examined the jobs, income, retail sales and sales tax produced by hospitals and the rest of the state’s health care sector.  The study was compiled from hospital-submitted data on the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey of Hospitals and with software that other industries have used to determine their economic impact.

 

 

Iowa community hospitals generate more than 133,000 jobs that add nearly $6.2 billion to the state’s economy, according to the latest Iowa hospital economic impact report. In addition, Iowa hospital employees by themselves spend $1.8 billion on retail sales and contribute nearly $106 million in state sales tax revenue.

• Branstad approves commutation request

  Gov. Terry E. Branstad today granted Rasberry Williams’ commutation request. Williams, age 67, committed first-degree murder on July 20, 1974, in Black Hawk County. A jury convicted Williams of first-degree murder and he was sentenced to life without possibility of parole.  Today Governor Branstad commuted his sentence to life with possibility of parole.
